Competencies in later life
PIAAC is limited in ignoring older generations. A German study CiLL analyses seniors' skills. Findings point to underused potential of seniors.
Prof. Dr. Bernhard Schmidt-Hertha is full professor for educational research with a focus on vocational continuing education and on-the-job training at the University of Tuebingen (Germany). He studied educational research, psychology and sociology in Munich, where he finished his PhD in 2004 and his habilitation in 2009. He is co-editor of an online journal, reviewer for the German Research Association and different national and international journals, and member of European Society for Research on the Education of Adults (ESREA) steering committee.
