is currently the Deputy Director of DVV International, an institute of the German Adult Education Association implementing projects on Adult education for development in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Europe. During the past 25 years, he served as a Regional Director of DVV International in Russia, Uzbekistan and Laos. In June 2019, he was elected as the President of the European Association for the Education of Adults (EAEA).
